The Cantonal Water Office (OCEau) is the cantonal authority responsible for integrated water management in Geneva.
Its mission is to sustainably protect water resources (lakes, rivers, groundwater), guarantee a safe and healthy living environment, and enhance aquatic ecosystems.
To achieve this, OCEau brings together several specialized services: wastewater treatment and management, river management and fishing, public lake domain and harbor master’s office, and monitoring and protection of aquatic environments.
The office coordinates the actions of municipalities, public services, and users, and raises public awareness about the measured and responsible use of water.
The Cantonal Health Office (OCS) is the cantonal authority responsible for public health in Geneva.
Its mission is to promote conditions and behaviors conducive to health, coordinate healthcare professionals, protect consumers, and guarantee access to quality care.
It comprises several departments: the cantonal medical officer’s office, the cantonal pharmacist’s office, the consumer affairs and veterinary services, the healthcare network, and the oversight of healthcare professionals.
The OCS also ensures public health safety, compliance with standards, and risk prevention for the population.
The Agenda 21 – Sustainable City Service leads Geneva’s municipal sustainable development policy. Its work is structured around four pillars: “Geneva, a Sustainable City” (climate strategy, biodiversity, greening, etc.), “Local and Sustainable Economy” (promotion of the circular economy, urban agriculture, reuse), “Equality and Diversity” (combating discrimination, social inclusion), and “Geneva, a City of Solidarity” (international cooperation, humanitarian projects).
It coordinates programs such as “Feeding the City,” supports sustainable local initiatives, and awards one-off grants to citizen-led projects that promote the environment, the social economy, or social cohesion.
The service embodies a comprehensive and inclusive vision of sustainability in Geneva—encompassing environmental, social, economic, and humanitarian dimensions.
Founded in 2006 by Geneva University Hospitals (HUG) and the University of Geneva, the Geneva Health Forum (GHF) is a Swiss non-profit initiative that brings together a wide range of stakeholders to discuss and develop solutions to global health challenges.
Developed in partnership with some twenty health-related organizations, the GHF provides a neutral platform for dialogue and collaboration between policymakers, representatives from academia, civil society, and the private sector.
The GHF focuses particularly on health equity and the link between the environment and health.
